About Our Face Masks
We are proud to offer comfortable, fun, and reusable masks with the knitted quality you've come to expect from our 15 years of making awesome socks. We're also proud that our mask materials, when tested, proved to offer more protection than a regular cotton mask. Read on below for more information!
About Our Masks
The outer layer is knit with special antimicrobial copper fibers, making our face masks more effective than standard cotton masks. Plus for every mask you buy, we’re donating one to Meals on Wheels People.
How Effective Are Your Masks?
An external lab verified the effectiveness of the copper material on the outer layer of our masks. While no masks, including ours, can claim to completely prevent transmission of any disease, the materials used in our masks do make them more effective than home made or regular cotton masks. Below is an image from the laboratory report showing how the copper materials in our masks inhibited two separate pathogens tested, with 99% effectiveness.
Additionally, the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report that the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes the disease COVID-19, remained viable for up to 2 to 3 days on plastic and stainless steel surfaces vs. up to 4 hours on copper (citation: https://www.nejm.org/doi/10.1056/NEJMc2004973).
Antimicrobials include all agents that act against all types of microorganisms – bacteria (antibacterial), viruses (antiviral), fungi (antifungal) and protozoa (antiprotozoal). Copper destroys bacteria which grows in warm and moist environments, like breathing into a standard cotton face mask. Let's be 100% clear: there are no products that can guarantee the prevention of contracting any disease. When we're talking about the effectiveness of our masks, we're speaking in terms relative to other common consumer products on the market. Our masks are not intended for medical use. We're proud of the high standards and verified results of the materials in our masks, but we also want to make sure you have all the facts. If you have questions about our masks please DM, email, or give us a call.
Meals on Wheels People Donations
We're absolutely thrilled to be partnering with Meals on Wheels People, who serve some of the most vulnerable members of our community. For every mask that is purchased, we will be donating a mask to Meals on Wheels People to distribute to their volunteers.
We expect to be able to start delivering masks to MOWP the second week of July. We will continue to update our website and social media as we get more information.
We're limiting the initial orders to 2 per person, per design. Once we deplete our initial limited inventory, we'll remove the restrictions. Welp, that was fast. Order as many as you like!
Masks are available in two sizes. The standard adult sizes will fit most adults with adjustable straps. The smaller kid size will fit children 3 and up, and smaller adults. Please refer to the measuring instructions below to ensure a good fit for you!
Masks cannot be returned. If you receive a damaged or defective item, we will replace it from available inventory. Please contact our returns department if you have an issue with the products you receive. Please don't send masks back to us for health and safety reasons.
When Can I Get One?
We have limited quantities that will be ready to ship in June-- the first orders are expected to ship the week of June 1st, 2020. Once that stock is depleted, we'll update the product pages with the new updated ship date. All other preorders placed once that stock is depleted through the beginning of July are expected to ship the second week of July. As we get more information, we'll keep you up to date on our website and via email. To get the latest mask information, we recommend signing up for our email newsletters (you can do that from the bottom of any page on the website).
